This novel tells the story of a young Jewish woman who moves to Israel after the end of WWII. Beautifully written with a story that captures the optimism of youth with the sense of a particular time and place. This book left me thinking long after I put it down. 

I will add that it took me over 20 years to actually read this book.  I had seen it in so many places over the years. The back cover blurb didn't capture me. Neither did the cover image.  Then one day I picked it up at a book sale and thought I'd give it a go. Now I cant' stop recommending it to people.
