The Wall of Shadows of the title is 2000 feet of ice plastered rock which forms part of the ascent of Jannu in the Himalayas. This account of a NZ attempt to climb the mountain covers everything from the woes of fundraising to the challenges of the climb. Fascinating detail in the appendices describe the food taken, the personal equipment needed and the medical issues and kit. A surprisingly easy-to-read adventure but will obviously be of particular interest to those that like climbing.
