This is the story of Wellington, it's streets and its suburbs and its residents. Irvine-Smith used street names as a starting point for this interesting social history of the city. A historian and teacher, she was also an active resident of the city, lobbying the council for a library in her own suburb. She died in December 1948 just months after this book was published.
