The Larnachs

The name Larnach usually brings to mind Dunedin's Larnach Castle, built by politician and self-made man, William Larnach in the late 1800s. 

This novel revolves around the growing relationship between William Larnach's third wife, Constance, and his son Dougie. This is a fictional exploration based on true life. It is beautifully and thoughtfully written - and gives an insight into the socially restrictive world of late nineteenth century Dunedin.
