This is the story of Billy Rose who strikes off on his own in 1907 keen to work on the new railroad being cut through the mountainsides - building the Makatote viaduct. Pattrick is a prolific NZ author perhaps best known for Denniston Rose, but actually many of her books are very popular. It's not hard to see why - readable, characters you care about and New Zealand settings all make for good stories.
