Frances Preston was one of NZ's earliest female doctors. In this vivid account of her experiences she talks about fighting diseases in what were often primitive and exhausting conditions. She worked in hospitals, country practices and as a locum in Dunedin, New Plymouth, Rotorua and the Hokianga in the 1920s and onwards.
