Heartland

Many might know Jenny Pattrick from that well known novel, The Denniston Rose. That was honestly a great read, particularly for fans of historical fiction. Anyway, Heartland is set in more modern times in a small town overlooked by Mt Ruapehu - it's engaging from the get go, warm, lively and entertaining. And sometimes that's what you need from a book. 

Here's a first line which I thought was terrific:

Donny Mac was released at Eastertime, about a month before Pansy Holloway, also known as Nightshade, disappeared for good.
