Hardback in very good condition, published 1964, this edition 1970. Beautiful dust jacket with painting by Douglas Badcock, quite a well-known NZ painter of the time.
This is a great memoir of William Anderson's days as a doctor in the early 1900s, from the influenza epidemic of 1918 to over 20 years of private practice in Queenstown. There were few telephones and he made plenty of house calls in all weathers and all seasons dealing with everything from delivering babies to injuries from a gas plant explosion. This is an easy and interesting read that gives a great view of Queenstown back in those days, the characters and the working life of a doctor.
Lots of old black and white pictures too.
Great stuff.
