A lovely story of how John Menzies and his wife, Cesca, settled down to try and make a living on a farm in the Sounds. They had farmed in England for several years and a holiday in New Zealand then had them thinking about  a change of lifestyle. 

"It was at that grim period in the early thirties when New Zealand, as well as other countries, was in the midst of the Slump and the prospects of gathering together any capital seemed to me at that time very dim" recalls Menzies. But they made it work and he wrote a book about it. 

Warm, funny and a little bit inspiring.
