Written in 1957 this book lives on and on. Set in a dystopian USA in which heavy industry is so heavily regulated it is hard for many of them to operate. A mysterious character, John Galt, starts to persuade business leaders to leave their businesses and create a strike of productive people. Russian born writer, Rand, was famously very in favour of self-interest and very opposed to any form of altruism. This book is very much about putting forward that philosophy. Like it or loathe it, you might want to read it.
