An Autobiography of Dr Francis Bennett

Hardback with dust jacket in very good condition. Oxford University Press 1980.

Francis Bennett begins at the beginning with his childhood in South Canterbury on the backblocks with his parents and little brother. He goes on to serve in both WW1 and WWII, goes to medical school in Dunedin and becomes a doctor at the start of the Depression. It sounds like unlucky timing is a theme here - but there's no self-pity in this engagingly written account of his life.

Bennett also penned a novel The March of The Little Men.
